Danielle | Don’t wait for disease to manifest; start early – The C.A.G.E.S. analogy about reducing oxidative stress is great! Vit C, Vit A, Glutathione, Vit E and Selenium – Mark’s recommendations of 12 different whole foods daily and 30 over the week, alongside supps, lifestyle and diet strategies |
Liz | Test and don’t guess. Being young does not mean that one does not have cardiovascular risks. Aim to prevent/reverse cardiometabolic risks before they develop into chronic diseases! |
Merri | It was a fabulous webinar. A better understanding of the types of LDL, what they do, and how they react. A better understanding of Apolipoproteins, their varieties and how they affect the system. PS. Love your Berberine, K2, and Annatto |
Vicky | Wonderfully researched and rounded discussion incorporating knowledge on various testing that is not run of the mill with GPs but highly important for the person. Sensible and practical advice and support were offered. |
Linda | Tocotrienols have a very important Statin-like effect: They directly inhibit HMG-CoA reductase. Berberine glucose and cholesterol have a statin-like effect, which reduces TNF alpha, etc. Remind self and clients how to produce parasympathetic responses frequently throughout the day. Prevention via testing early and don’t assume |
Su Yin | Amazing – got a lot out of understanding the different apolipoproteins and risk factors. The thing that got my ears all perked up was when Mark mentioned the importance of getting the right form of berberine to minimise the impact on the gut microbiome. I have tried both phellodendron and Berb-Evail and I have to say I LUVVVVV Berb-Evail. |
Melissa | Learning about the Lipid subfractions and the gene involvement was excellent. This has shown me that my protocol for managing cholesterol needs a tweak, and a deeper look into the lipids is a must. Thanks for providing such an in-depth seminar. |
Jeannette | Test early to make the most impact on deterring CVD. Test the various LDL lipoproteins and types 1 and 2, which are the least to be concerned about but still monitored over time. Diet is very important to help mitigate. Balanced blood sugar is a major driver of inflammation, and oxidative stress is a key player in CVD. There are so many great tips and recommendations to start implementing. Thanks, Mark and DFH. |
Kate | It is important to test early, especially in those with a family history, even though they may be ‘thin’ or do not have symptoms. Glucose regulation is also key. The importance of activity and building lean muscle. The supplements and why they are helpful. The scope of the cardiometabolic testing profile the change in risk factors for menopausal women. Keep up your amazing work! |
Lucy | I loved the explanations of the lipoproteins and subfractions. The activation of the genotype is not always more important than the phenotype. |
Chelsea | Having a variety of 12 whole foods a day and 30 per week and also the importance of testing versus making assumptions |
Leanne | Lifestyle changes and supplements can be used in conjunction with medications (and safely). It is important to look at fractions rather than just what is provided on standard blood tests. |
Jacqui | The use of tocopherols and berberine. They have a statin action. The lipid panel, along with genetics, can help predict cardiovascular risk in the next five years. |
